Normalmente, el gr\u00e1fico de la curva de rendimiento de la bomba indica en el eje de abscisas la capacidad, es decir, la cantidad de fluido que se puede mover en un determinado intervalo de tiempo, y en el eje de las ordenadas la prevalencia, es decir, la energ\u00eda disponible que se puede transferir al fluido. Al aumentar la capacidad disminuye la prevalencia disponible.\n\nLa curva de potencia absorbida (P) [kW] representa, en el eje de las ordenadas, la potencia el\u00e9ctrica utilizada caracterizada en relaci\u00f3n con la capacidad Q requerida. A la potencia absorbida por la propia bomba, es necesario multiplicar el peso espec\u00edfico del l\u00edquido para poder definir la potencia necesaria y, por lo tanto, el motor correcto a instalar. Al valor obtenido se recomienda a\u00f1adir un 10-20% como margen de seguridad.\n\nEl rendimiento (\u03b7) es la relaci\u00f3n entre la potencia suministrada y la potencia realmente utilizada y depende del punto de trabajo requerido. Es importante garantizar que la bomba seleccionada, a la capacidad requerida, est\u00e9 funcionando en el \u00e1rea de m\u00e1ximo rendimiento (punto de m\u00e1xima eficiencia \u2013 BEP, Best Efficiency Point), evitando as\u00ed una selecci\u00f3n al principio o al final de la
